The Makarska Riviera and Baska Voda are located on the Adriatic Dalmatian coast of Croatia. The normal route is to fly to Split International Airport and then transfer by Taxi, Car Hire or by Bus.

Generally thought to be a summer only resort - the Makarska Riviera is fast being discovered to be a year round destination.

The winter climate is mild so expect to be able to eat outside at the waterfront restaurants in January and February when we see some beautiful sunny days.

This area is one of the sunniest parts of northern Mediterranean with on average 2700 sunny hours per year.
Inland from Baska Voda lies the Dinara mountain range and the Biokovo Natural Park.
The region has splendid walks along alpine trails, with many interesting caves and fascinating villages to explore. There are organised walking tours or go it alone. Mountain bikes can also be hired.
A wonderful walk is to ascend from Baska Voda to the traditional stone-built village of Bast, and from here there is a panoramic route along the base of the Biokovo mountain to the resort town of Makarska.
Year round activities include tennis, river and sea fishing, horse riding and trekking, mountain biking, mountain climbing, hang gliding, caving, rafting, canoeing and hunting.

Horse riding deserves a special mention. Riding in the "Cetina Valley" which sits just behind Baska Voda is a wonderful experience. Follow the river banks or ride the fields, this is breathtaking countryside and quite unforgettable. Easily accessed by car from our apartment.

We must certainly include scuba diving and sailing on this page of tourist information about Baska Voda, after all the Makarska Riviera is first and foremost a Mediterranean, Adriatic holiday destination.

There is a plentiful supply of yacht charter companies operating in the area - for larger boats you will need to travel to Split or 10 minutes up the road to Makarska - it is easy to hire smaller craft locally in Bask Voda.

Dive schools are open throughout the year, the most well known being "Poseidon Dive Center". Poseidon run small dive craft which can carry up to 12 persons and offer a variety of dives, including night dives. All equipment can be hired and tuition is available for all levels.
